hello, i have to create a javacard application that can access to sim's contact list. i've seen that it is possible to access to contact list using J2ME API (PIM optional package). My question is: can i also do this operation using sim.toolkit API or JavaCard API?which package could i use? The problem is that my application must be portable to any kind of device, and i don't know if j2me ...

Hello, You can use Java Card SIM API - sim.access - This package provides the means to the applets for accessing to the GSM data and file system of the GSM application defined in the GSM 11.11 specification. that actually is an Applet not a MIDlet... So that code wont work, after all it's not J2ME but J2SE, also I doubt that their libraries support the limited functionality of J2ME...

Hello, It's true that is not a MIDlet, its java card applpet. With the help any Java Card SDK he can write the portable application. Most of Java card supports GSM 43.019 v5.5.0 Annex A: Java Card SIM API for accessing the file system on card. For more information please refer http://developer.gemalto.com/home/sim-toolkit.html

Yes I have hands-on experience using this. It's not easy to install such applet on smart card without the help of network operator. I was in the development team during implementing this specification with one of the smart card manufacturer.
