Thread: mosaic tiling

Am about to embark on tiling floor to ceiling bathroom walls with porcelain mosaic tiles 350x350mm (25mm units). I have a bit of tiling under my belt, but am told mosaics are a little tricky. Advice given to me so far is to use rapid set adhesive and nail tacks into the corners to prevent the tile 'slumping'. can anyone confirm or deny this method and let me know what brand of adhesive ...

I would recommend Bal mosaic Fix for your adhesive it has a bucket life of around 5hrs & sets in 16hrs. I personally would not use rapid set.

first of all the substrate has to be flat as a pancake for mosaics or you will see every little bump etc.secondly,use a 3 or 4 mm trowel so the adhesive doesnt seep through the mesh.Thirdly,use a good adhesive such as mapei adesilex p9.Fourthly,score the tiles in a dry cutter and snap off using your nippers.Lastly,place mosaic sheet in place and use a grout float to PAD the tiles gently into ...

first of all id use ardex x77 addy it's flexible , white ,and has superb grip,then either make a mosaic beater 33cm x20cm a decent heavy flat piece of wood with make do handle or use a screeders plastic float as you place in position using flat hands not pressing with individual fingers, after you have say six sheets holding bat them all over flat and firm then wash off with spong then check all...

i agree the x77 is quality stuff,there is a lot of good advice on this forum
