Started 2 months, 2 weeks ago by krazykidd510
hey guys, one of my friends once was telling me about the mazda speed 3 engines being similar in size to the Duratec engine, he might have even said that the engines are similar overall, but to be very honest i dont really remember as it was years ago when we talked about it all in all, i was wondering if it would be possible to fit one of the 2.3 DISI MZR engines into a focus? just ...

I kind of figured this would happen if I posted in the engine swap area.

There is a bellhousing to bolt the t-5 to the zetec but it costs 475 and good luck finding one used, not too many hobbyists part out midget hot rods. I plan to make my own, by combining the mtx bellhousing to the t-5 in order to keep the mechanical/adjustable clutch cable system rather than the hydraulic. Getting alot of used parts and making alot of them also, you could probably do it for 4 ...

AWESOME finnaly someone to help. Thank you so much. 4k isnt too bad I think if I do want I want itll be like 10k but itll be over several years. is there anyway to get the bell housing I mean the way this looks if I have to shell out 475$ then so be it.

quadsforrods is the only local place (aka us) that makes one. The zetec is pretty popular overseas for rwd kit/ engine swaps.

I just looked at the website and they have some interesting stuff. WHat would you do about a clutch/flywheel package?

Will the engine and auto trans from a 2007 focus bolt right into a 2003 focus with auto trans or will it be a hassle and alot of cutting?? any help suggestions please let me know thanks

TnFocus replied 3 months, 1 week ago
Most likely have to do some metal work, but you will also need the computer, harness, and a few more other thigns to go along with that. Your are dealing with 2 completely different motor/transmissions.

Guess I'll check the local mustang forums too LOL. I KNOW there's a late 90s early 2000s mustang at the junkyard. Just didn't look at it yet.

This may have been covered already, but Im not reading back, why not use the whole drivetrain out of a V8 Thunderbird? V8, 5 Speed Stick, Rear wheel drive.

svt motor swap...what head?
Published (2009-11-11 05:32:00)
unless you have the ECU and PCM to go with the engine as well as everything else you need to make this swap then it probably wont be worth the money you are going to spend to buy it. the engine will bolt in and it will even bolt to the transmission in your car provided you have a manual trans. if you have an automatic then you will need to convert to car to a maunal in order to make the entire swap go as smoothly as possible as i havent read...

careful about the 2002's you might get one from 2002.5+, if you do you'll have to swap over the old style shifter

ok guys so my hommie figured out how to make everything work, we put the manual ecu in but kept the auto wire harness...it took a lot of hours and research to find out how to do it without changing the whole harness...so if you guys want the write up he did let me know but it will cost, still cheaper than you would pay anywhere else...it's nice to have a speedo again and cruise control...oh yeah also make sure you have the key chip for...

Independent schmindependent. There's nothing catastrophic about solid axles, they work and are pretty tough, if you think your focus will handle like a focus after swapping in a v8 and a IRS of any kind, good luck. Just compare the price of getting the cobra IRS setup to a standard 8.8, the savings can be used to tighten any suspension issues you think you'd have.
