This seems to relate to your other question about ducking.
From what you describe, the audio you've added is possibly set to duck on the video.

In iMovie 08 -- I've made a video project by stitching together several clips of video. When I add audio, the audio fades out after the first 10 seconds, even though the green audio label extends long past that. How do I get my clip to play during the 45 seconds of the project that I want? Apple help page doesn't help. Thanks very much. Don...
