Thread: low salt mac n cheese

Started 3 weeks, 5 days ago by jdeets
I've discovered that my 1 yo DD loves mac n cheese, but I don't want to make her the boxed kind due to all of the salt. I also know that Velveeta contains quite a bit of sodium and that is the only way I've made homemade mac n cheese. Does anyone have a suggestion for a homemade recipe that would be lower in sodium/salt? I'd also love any suggestions for 'stage 3' baby food recipes....

Cheeses are high in salt, it preserves them. If you can find reduced sodium cheeses, that would be one way to do it. Another alternative is to cut back on the cheese and add some nutritional yeast, which has a cheesy flavor.
