The deleted scene depicts Shorty burning the guard with fire. This makes the guard wake from the black sleep of Kali. This is how Shorty learns that fire will make Indy wake up. This deleted scene has been known about for decades. You discovered nothing. "Nobody steals our chicks... and lives."

They should have kept that scene. I also read that in early drafts of the film, Mola Ram was to seemingly awaken after being burned by the stone.
