going to be in nyc from dec 17th - dec 21st. due to hours being cut in work, we just dont have the money we thought we would have so trying to cut our cloth a bit. we have booked a king bed suite in the wellington for the 4 nights for a total of $1256 (incls full american breakfast each morning) at the time of booking (february) this looked like a good ...

Well - have you checked any other hotels at that time which is one of the busiest of the year??? That would be where to start, I would reckon. Let us know what you find out. Poppa

yes poppa i checked other hotels. the only 2 i could find with suites were the doubletree and the embassy but both tell me i exceed the maximum occupancy with 2 adults + 1 child? im well aware its the busiest time of year, and because of this i booked flights in january and accomodation in february. however i have read numerous topics on this forum about hotels offering ...

oh and i omitted candlewood suites, they cant accomodate 2 adults + 1 child either it seems

So, exactly when do you wish to travel, December, January or February the latter two being where you can get some really good deals on hotels. Poppa

Quikbook is showing some nice prices on the Affinia Shelburne and Affinia's Eastgate Tower: $247/night for a Deluxe (with kitchenette) 1-bedroom at the Affinia Shelburne $252/night for a 1-bedroom suite at Eastgate Tower Cheaper still: a 1-bedroom suite at the Hotel Newton for $210/night via Orbitz

thanks cockle cove i'll have a look at those suggestions now, they look good poppa as i said in the first line of my OP "going to be in nyc from dec 17th - dec 21st." i booked the flights for this trip in jan 09 and the hotel in feb 09. im just having to look at other options now as our income has dropped substantially since then
