Thread: imovie09 v. FCE import video quality?

Hello, I have imported video from my camera from both FCE and imovie09 and for some reason the quality turns out better in FCE than imovie? Does this make sense? Also, I use this camera: SONY Handycam DCR-VX2100 NTSC For some reason when I go from iMovie09 to .mov to idvd the quality is BAD. However, when I import through FCE and go from FCE to .mov to idvd the quality is ...

Import quality should be the same. You are seeing a difference in export, or rendering, quality. iMac 24 2.8Ghz, iPhone, TV Mac OS X (10.6.1)...

Could the problem be with the "PROJECT PROPERTIES"? I think it is set for widescreen as default, but the standard definition camera needs set to standard? Also, does it matter what size I use in the export settings on imovie09? Export movie as large? (I see it took off the HD option when I switched to standard screen size)...

I get really good results with iMovie 09 and YouTube by using this method of export: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZ06dOb0Mds The actual method starts at 1min 25 secs into the tutorial. If you have FCE, why bother with iMovie at all? Just learn to use it and forget iMovie. If you look around, there are a number of free ways to get iMovie HD. Regards, Z....
