Thread twister Alert!!!! When we bought Orson because he was not from the breeders original line. We had to buy him "as is" because he was not from her kennel to begin with. Yes, we had to sign a contract relinquishing our rights to come back on her and say "hey...you sold me a sickly or faulty dog." .....It ALL COMES DOWN TO CONTRACTS.

Yes you should pay the whole amount. Do you have a contract? Was there any statement on that contract about bringing the dog to your vet if sick? Was their a verbal agreement to bring the dog to YOUR vet if the puppy got sick? If not, then I see no reason why you would even question paying the full amount.

I agree you sold a puppy who was sick and should pay for the vet care. Any responsible breeder would.

Agreed with the others. In court in most states you would be held responsible for selling ill puppy and have to pay for it. What were they ill with?
