Thread: how well does the Subaru radiator cap work?

Started 9 months, 2 weeks ago by Gixxer1K
I'm wondering if the radiator cap is supposed to be able to relieve the overpressure before bursting the hoses (either upper or lower). Thanks

All caps have a pressure rating and let coolant out when it's exceeded. In normal operation, coolant goes into the recovery tank when the engine's hot and gets sucked back into the engine when it cools down. You should never see more pressure in the coolant than the cap's set pressure. So, they will prevent excessive pressure.
