This is quite ambiguous which host name are you trying to find? Let's take forum.joomla.org for example. The domain is joomla.org and the sub-domain is forum.joomla.org. The host can mean the name of the name of the HTTP server and the name of the MySQL database server which can be separate or the same. If you are on a Linux machine, have a look at the "/etc/hosts" or "/etc/HOSTNAME" file.
