even in stock form you really should get an upgrade on the converter and a transgo shift kit. That said, I'm running the mods in my sig with the power in my sig with no real problems yet. (knock on wood) I sure can feel a LOT of power being sapped from the wheels from the tranny though. It's probably the converter, but anyways... I don't suggest running the stock tranny with much more than stock ...

Cole Dow made 339 hp at the wheels a few years ago with a 4200 spring.

You can turn the fuel up for more power.... Put a DennyT pin in there and avance the timing a little and intake/exhaust upgrades and you'll be happy with it

I have said it before, if I had to do it again I would have spent $$ on trans upgrades before injectors and such. My truck is mild in comparison to many and even at that I feel much of it is wasted in the el-musho trans/TQ conv.

only upgrade im doing is turning up the fuel and maybe a exhaust. so i thnk the stock tranny should hold up

big stinky replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Its not the part of "holding up" that is the problem. What these guys are trying to tell you is DO THE TRANNY! lol All these guys have already done what you want to do. And they ALL regret not doing the tranny... say something to you?

I'm not really sure, and it seems nobody else knows either, what the efficiency rating is on a stock converter. I've heard varying numbers on it, none over mid 70s for %. It's bad, that's all I know. And David is right too about everything he said. B) Much better than myself to ask on any matter relating to our trucks, I'm sure.
