hot 10mm vs. hot .45 acp?
This is probably discussed elsewhere, but what is your collective wisdon
comparing hot 10mm rounds against hot .45 acp rounds? My interest is in
hunting medium game and as defense against cougars (which have shown up in
the areas I hunt grouse here in Michigan).
I'm debating getting a Glock 20, or hopping up one of my .45s, such as a
Sig 220s (all stainless).

Personally, I'd go with the 10mm, hands down. The 10mm can generate much
higher velocities than the .45 can and there are some hot, heavy hitting
and deep penetrating 10mm loads available that will perform much better
than the nearest .45+P round.
But, if the .45 is all you have, then for defense against 4-legged
preditors, I'd probably choose the Hornady .45+P 230XTP. Hornady is known
for their...

If you are interested in getting another gun, then the Glock 20 would be a
great auto pistol against cougars. Go to http://doubletapammo.com
for your 10mm or 45 acp selection. Mike has some of the best performing
ammo around. Also check out http://cor-bon.com for good 10mm hunting ammo.
If you want to stick with the P220ST, then you might consider a heavier
recoil spring(22lbs)from Wolff, http://...
Where animals are concerned, I think you would be better served with a
10mm.
I would prefer a large bore revo for woods carry...a la 41mag, 44mag, 45
Colt...
But for an auto-loader for woods carry? 10mm is a better choice than 45
ACP.
Are you comparing good 10mm like Double tap, against 45ACP +P or when you
say hot you mean 45SUPER?
If you are talking about 45ACP +P, then I would say go for the 10mm.
If you are willing to hand load and test your loads (like me), then I would
say go with the 45 Super. You can tailor your loads.
