Started 4 weeks, 1 day ago by huntjulien
okay so tonight i was flying my super cub with my lights on it which were running off of a 9volt battery. i was about to do a loop when i realized i had no control over the throttle. it wouldnt change speeds even if i had the throttle stick on the transmitter all the way down. i ended up having to kinda crash land it in the grass although my plane was fine wen i picked it up the prop ...

If the lights were on a totally different system and it did that then the RX/ESC probably went bonkers. Had nothing to do with the lipo if you pulled the jumper. All the jumper does is change the low voltage cut-off to be appropriate for lipo. Unfortunately these are not high quality electronics. I've noticed a pretty high failure rate on the RX/ESC in the last few months. I think a poor ...

sounds like interference to me. somebody else in the area might have been driving an RC car or another PZ plane. I've had it happen before.

If it only did it there and is now fine, interference may be the cause. If it still does it, replace the RX/ESC unit.

Was this the first time flying with the lights? It could be interference from the transformer that is driving your lighting system.

okay well i just went to try it out and im sad to say the receiver if all burnt up. i plugged in my lipo and was happy to see my prop not spinning. i check to see if i had elevator and rudder control, i did. then i slowly raised the throttle stick with nothing to happen. i smelt a little burnt rubber/plastic in the fuse so i opened up the receiver to find a little black plastic and metal thing ...

I think this is where you call up HobbyZone and explain the story to them nicely. There's a fair chance you get a new RX out of it. (877) 504-0233

okay so iv called hobbyzone and they said they couldnt send me a free one bcuz i purchased it from a friend... i understand that so i was not mad or anything... i did have a idea tho. because i want to keep flying on lipo's could i buy a receiver for the SC lp??? i would like to still you the same transmitter from before and same plane but could i swap the receiver??? any ideas?

flydiver replied 3 weeks, 5 days ago
It's the same receiver. The LP just has an EC3 connector and the lipo jumper pulled.

If you 'upgraded' to Spectrum and had 3S + 4 servos, maybe you are another person afflicted with the dreaded Spectrum Brown Out . The DX7 would only be less susceptible as the DSM2 receivers are newer than the older DSM (DX6) and would reboot faster. Spectrum cures everything.

Have had two different Super Cubs get into the air and suddenly go out of control(Would not respond). Both times, I was using a Spectrum DX6. Have a DX7 and thus far have not had this problem.... May not be significant but just wonder....................
