hi people I the first time establish amanda and I have a question Whether can Amanda represent tape storage MSL2024 as the block device I have program DCM4CHEE which should clean in files tar archive and accordingly sometimes restores from archive, but in the program there is no possibility to write at once on a tape. And the question can Amanda simulate tape storage MSL2024 as ...

Amanda can work with MSL2024 tape library. Amanda will use mtx and mtx supports MSL2024 ( http://mtx.opensource-sw.net/detail.php?record=188 ). How are you using DCM4CHEE? Are you planning to move medical images files from DICOM storage to the tape library? I don't understand what you mean by "clean in files tar archive". Does DICOM storage use tar archives? thanks Paddy

You can use Amanda to backup nearline storage from disks to tape. But, restoration using dcm4chee will require two steps. Use Amanda to restore from tape to disk and then dcm4chee can get the necessary files. Paddy

You can use Amanda to backup nearline storage from disks to tape. But, restoration using dcm4chee will require two steps. Use Amanda to restore from tape to disk and then dcm4chee can get the necessary files. Paddy
