That's good damage control.. took them 4 years but compensation seems fair + they take the iniative of finding the scammed customers and paying the rebates.. no need for bidders to go thru the list of impacted auctions and filing an online form demanding a rebate etc... + try to find 5.22% in 2009 !

A sad day for the domaining industry. I think this goes on a lot money than we are aware. I've seen some pretty shady bidding at other auction houses too.

Recently, SnapNames discovered that an employee had set up an account on the SnapNames system under a false name and, under this name, bid in SnapNames auctions. This is a clear violation of our internal policy and was not approved by the company. We deeply regret that this conduct has impacted our customers. Extent of impact This conduct affected a small percentage of SnapNames auctions...

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this happens or has happened at a lot of the aftermarket auction sites (possibly even secretly condoned by the company). I see a lot of bidding activity that doesn't seem rational.

This is very bad. I have a suspicion of the name of the shill bidder's account. Brad

Here is one on my list from earlier this year. It is a joke this was not caught sooner. FootComfort.com - Auction End Time: 16-Jul-2009 12:40 PDT halvarez - $801.00 Halvarez and another bidder took it from about $350 up. Let's take a look at the whois...shocker. Michael, nice find. It would be understandable to not renew a small percentage of domains won in auction but not to renew many or all goes beyond all reason. My hat off to you, that is good work. __________________ JesusChri.st .... ChristJes.us .... Arkans.as .... Wiscons.in .... Fig.ht ..... Debit-Card.us Interested? PM me!

More schill bidding at snapnames ???? I am currently in a closed 3 day bid for a domain that was sold at snapnames last year, the person that won the domain last year at snap is the only other person who is in the auction with me and he's bidding against me at this time. (same username at snap) As far as I can tell the domain was'nt a deleting one as it still shows the original reg date from a few years ago and is registered until...

I have this suspicion that Brady will be very co-operative with federal authorities and that this is REALLY going to come back to destroy SnapNames and Oversee. Once someone like Brady is caught in such a situation, they will rat on everything that may have gone on within the organization. TT's post above and my new thoughts on the situation really have me considering my portfolio with Moniker.
