Everything woks as expected when searching the indexes without @group cause. But when I want to find the items count grouped by a certain attribute, I get ...

Also just to mention that I did increase (to 10,000) the max_matches both in the sphinx.conf and in (my case) the PHP api call to SetLimits(). The number of results very well fit in 1000 but I wanted to make sure that's not the problem before posting here.

Ah, I was talking too early. upon reading the docs I thought that would solve the problem but I am still getting wrong counts when using @group. Also when the delta index is empty and the main contains all the data, @group gives the correct counts but as soon as I start adding items to the delta index, the @group count numbers starts to increase which makes me think that it counts the ...

I wish I could delete the thread :) I had an error in the query inside sql_query_killlist but "indexer" did not raise any warning or error (is this expexted?) but I decided to verify it anyway and fixed the error and the counts are OK, now. I first learned about the solution from here http://www.sphinxsearch.com/forum/view.html?id=467 3, so thanks Barry! > Ah, I was talking too ...
