Thread: got an exhaust leak, using JB Weld, do it when hot or cold? - ClubSi
Started 3 months ago by Ares
one of the welds on my exhaust is half cracked around, it only opens up when the cars been running and the exhaust tubing is hot. I cant reweld it because I dont have a welder, I do have JB Weld however. my plan is to just put a roll of it around the entire weld to seal and reinforce. right now the exhaust is warm, but not too hot to touch, the seam is open. should I seal it now like that ...
meh, the JB weld is already on my desk. knowing a mechanic, theyll want to charge me 80$ for an hour of labor for it, and end up caking on another shitty weld. wonder if I can go back to injen for it lol, do they warrenty this shit? edit: no, no they dont. well Im gonna go slather some JB weld on there.
Quote: Q: Will J-B Weld work on an automotive exhaust? A: Because of the extreme temperatures of exhaust systems, we do not recommend J-B Weld for use on exhaust manifolds and catalytic converters. Nor do we recommend the product for repairs within the combustion chamber. FAWK! the seam is on the first exhaust baffle directly after the cat. safe to say that would get hot.
You are, quite possibly, the cheapest little rich boy I have ever seen.
You're like one of those kids whose parents give him an STi when what he
wanted was an M3, so he abuses the hell out of what he is given.

theres a meineke by me thats like, half meineke, and half, basicly anything you want. they installed an exhaust on my truck a long time ago. I dont really go there since they tried to put my car on a lift, and came in to tell me that my clutch needed to be replaced because it just slipped when they tried to drive onto the lift tracks. I then pointed out they were catching the frame on the tracks, and thats why it wouldnt go forward....
