Thread: good alternatives for leg extension and leg curls?

im looking for a good replacement for these excercises, using dumbells/barbells and no machines. any suggestions? are machines better for a beginner or are the free weights always better?

Squats and deads. But if you're looking for more direct work, try lunges and hyperextensions.

Squats and Deadlifts.

Squats and sldl's should hit those areas very hard when done properly. Lunges are also an option that can really add flavor to your leg routine. Good luck!

i'll be doing squats, but my workout plan says to do leg extensions as a superset right after squats, and then curls for next work out. so i wanted to change these with something else.

i'll be doing squats, but my workout plan says to do leg extensions as a superset right after squats, and then curls for next work out. so i wanted to change these with something else.
