... what did you do before? i've been thinking about this, i got my first proper pc (i'm discounting the zx spectrums etc!) in 1999 and i have to confess i spend quite a few hours of my spare time on it, mostly web / forum browsing, occasional gameplay etc. i was a late starter (pc wise ) as back in 1999 i was mid-late 20's, this got me thinking ... what did i spend my spare hours doing pre-pc...
Good question rlf. I used to read a lot more, go out a lot more and work a hell of a lot more hours. In fact when I was at work I must have worked more too!!!
i actually spend less time now on my pc than before, but thats cause i watch more tv and play on the ps3 more than i used to. before that i can't remember what i did really, but i would say being at school meant i was busy so it wasn't a massive problem
I was at school, so I probably did lots of homework, watched TV, went round friends houses......oh and read hundreds of books!
Dunno how I used to manage doing my homework before the internet though, must have had to go to that Lib-rar-y place where they have lots of reference books!
I used to paint alot. I dont get that many comissions now so I spend time bumming around on here. Oh and then there is drinking but, my liver is quite thankful for the net.
Before I was studying at Uni so would have been studying (yes actual studying as I wasn't as intelligent as my class mates ) and if I had spare time I was either working, reading, watching tv/movies or going out with friends (which I still tend to do now come to think of it....)
Alex
had a life is what it sounds like!! Sounds as though we all went out and actually talked to real people other than forums and facebook lol!
For me we got a pc in about 1994 which had a few games on and we had a Super Nintendo and Commodore 64 before that and er I was a child so used to ride bikes and play outside when not on the SNES. We got dial up straight away but I never spent as much time ...
tbh I think people are a lot more fussy regarding relationships now, its so much easier to access new people and I think people act that way when they meet people now.
