On the face of it yes, but could you check that with the faceplate removed, there is no dial tone on any extensions connected to that line.

If you fit a filter faceplate, then the extension socket can be wired in two ways. (1) it can be connected to the filterd outputs, so that it would only work as a telephone socket, not for broadband. (2) it can be connected to work as an ADSL extension, in which case you can connect a router to it for broadband, and, using an additional filter, a telephone. The best ...

Why have you started yet another thread? You now have 3 threads on the topic of trying to improve your connection. Can I merge your 2 new threads regarding the faceplate? PLEASE DO NOT START ANY NEW THREADS RELATING TO THIS TOPIC

Brian69 replied 4 months, 1 week ago
No it will not improve your connection, the best connection is as I have already described, place the router close to the master, use a filter faceplate and connect youe exsiting extension to the filtered output. Dont worry, filter faceplates come with full instructions.

Ekam, please can you keep your connection issues to your original thread and respond to the help that has been offered there. router stats rong?

do i have alot of noise on my line? ADSL Link Downstream Upstream Connection Speed 6144 kbps 606 kbps Line Attenuation 49.0 db 27.9 db Noise Margin 6.3 db 17.5 db

Okay. I will attempt one last time and repeat what many have been advising you for days. 1 - reboot your router and post your stats 2 - remove the bottom half of your bt master socket to reveal the TEST socket. Put a filter in there and then the router. Boot the router back up and post your stats. If you fail to do this, then it is impossible for people to help you. Thanks...

What is the point of posting asking for advice and then ignoring it ? Please reread post # 11.

Should do, but as you've got an increase in the noise margin rather than an immediate increase in synch speed I would say your line is capped at your current speed and you'll need to get Sky CST to manually reconfigure your connection. What "unwanted wires" did you remove and as ever PLEASE POST YOUR STATS!

That gain in noise margin could get the speed upto that 6Mb that you had in your test socket or it may not.

Quote: wouldnt that mean ive got further away from the exchange No, it just means that ADSL2+, which uses higher frequencies is on your line. Measuring these extra frequencies causes a rise of about 3 dbs in the attenuation.
