but that didn't really come up with anything that I'm looking for and I've not been able to get the answers I'm looking for from google.
I'm looking for a decent exhaust, but I want quiet too.
It doesn't need to be stealthy quite, but stock is loud enough.
When I got my '05 zx6rr it came with a Leo Vince exhaust (this one - https://www....

My roomate has one on his 06 600RR and it sounds nice, mellow and quiet at idle and cruising...
if you are willing to get your hands dirty, cut your stock exhaust and take thestock baffling out...someone did this on their 636 and they said its louder but not annoying.

yeah, but then the overall sound and loudness is dictated by my volume and sound system settings... so not really that helpful as far as what I'm looking for...

Laser makes a pretty cool exhaust setup. Sounds pretty throaty at idle/low rpm. The two brothers doesn't sound bad either. Also check out termignoni, I have a slip on from them on my 600rr. Sounds deep and relatively quiet at low rpm and doesn't get obnoxiously loud at high rpm.

Muzzy on my ZX-14 and Two brothers on my ZZR-600. I recommend the Mussy. Now however as long as you only do slip-ons you will not have to map your fuel system. But if you go to a full exhaust system then you will need to, reflash your OEM ECU or install an aftermarket piggyback EFI commander.
