oh and i forgot to add that i dont have a muffler on it right now haha it rusted off the other day and i havent gotten around to doing anything about it yet but i will definatly check the cats

gransport38 replied 2 months ago
wow i feel kinda stupid but i forgot it was welded on, should i just break the welds or what?

Smaart Aas Saabr replied 2 months ago
What do you mean spinning out? Is the engine spinning faster (ie transmisison slipping) or is the engine bogging because it has no power? Should be obvious with a "VROOM" or no vroom if the cat is welded on maybe just unbolt the exhaust at the y pipe or remove the manifolds just to see if the problem stays or disappears

My guess is that it's because it has no muffler installed. Hook a muff up to it and the power should come back. I know it sounds crazy, but I've driven two stock vehicles with and without mufflers and both produced more power with the muffs installed.

ya sorry the rpms bog down, it just feels like its spinning out because of the vibration and the fact that im giving it gas and not hardly going anywhere. my muffler fell of about a month ago but would that honestly be enough reduced back pressure to cause that kind of issue? i was planning on throwin a cherry bomb on there once i had a little bit of money to throw around (because i cant find a ...

I suspect the distributor coil.

gransport38 replied 2 months ago
so i spent all day gettting this thing off and since every bolt that was in contact with that pipe was so rusted to the point that it didnt even have threads anymore i ended up hacking the pipe just before the cat. i was hopeful once i started taking it for a test ride but immediately after pulling out of my street the same thing. in park or neutral its fine but in gear the same crap where it ...

ive never dealt with that, what even needs to be done is it fixable or do i just need to replace it? (sorry if any of my questions seem obvious)

my fuel gauge has been acting up a lot as well, is there anyway the fuel sender affects the mix? making it run to rich or lean?

Carb and cleaner and brake cleaner work but can catch fire if the engine backfires, I have had this happen so I know what I am talking about. It is safer to use propane and a scan tool to watch the fuel trim and O2 sensor for any changes. The computers today are so quick at adjusting to compensate for the added fuel that you may not notice the change. Make sure you work in a well ventilated area and not in a garage so if a fire starts your...
