OP: thanks. We are not in the after school class at AMNH because dd's anxiety, which has always been present to an extent, meant she didn't really take any after school classes and now there is no space but we do a lot of things there and she goes to 1 week of camp there in the summer. I am thinking about doing things on my own but feel like I should not just do random experiments.

Maybe because you two moms are over involved and are worried that your dd interest in science is waning. Where you counting on living off of it or something?

that's way too much like school. Give DD real camp instead.

I'm a bio professor. There are a lot of cool things that you can do with her at home, for fun. Get her a microscope and let her make slides of things she would like to look at, dissect owl pellets (i know, gross, but it really is cool for kids), do simple experiments... I would just try to follow her interests at this age. There are lots of teacher's supply websites where you can order materials....

There's a weekend program that Hollingworth does for this age - an hou or two on Saturdays for four weeks.
