HI ALL help really needed pls
for some reason the car will not start ,its a 200vi 1.8
it was running fine but now want start
the alarm cuts off, (but when the key hole lights up to guide the key in ,the light still flashs on the dash(
when i turn the key the engine just turns and turns ,ive checked and all for plugs are sparking
and idea wot could be wrong ?
ecu blown? (but surly if...
took the plugs out to check spark, the plugs where soaked in fuel,so fuel is def getting throw, the plugs all spark as well :-(
just been back out to her,i disconnected the alarm ecu turned the key and nothing ,replaced pressed the key thob and inds flashed ,turned the key and again she turns but want start (but again for about ten sec after i disalarm the alarm the red light keeps flashing ,...
for the engine to run you need fuel, compression and spark, a lack of any these three commodities and the engine will not run, You need to disconnect the fuel pipe at the release coupling by the injectors and turn on ignition to see if fuel is there, remove and check all the spark plugs individually to make sure they are all sparking, at the same time do a compression test on all four cylinders ...
you need a compression gauge, Halfords sell them. It screws in place of a spark plug, you spin the engine with throttle open, write down the reading, and repeat on all four pots.
You are looking to see a reading of 150psi-180psi. Most people will take the readings twice. The upper reading is sometimes not as important as the consistency of the readings.
If they are all low, add a tea ...
right checked the fuel again, undid the fuel pipe and theres def fuel there, and when i took the plugs out there wet with fuel, and they spark, cant find my compresion tool (i remembered i have got one lol)
next checked the timming all just where they should be on both belts
a freind came round who is good with electrics he did a bit of testing whern we heard a relay that kept clicking when ...
after reading ludsonline post about having the same kind of prob, and finding his timming was a tooth out i thought i would check my timming again ,it looks ok to me but will let you all decide

i also did some wirer testing (was going to up load the diagrams i used but cant seem to :-(
anyway i ...
If there is injector and ignition coil drive from the ECU then you do not have an immobiliser issue.
The ECU runs the fuel pump for a few seconds when the ignition key is turned to position II, this primes the system.
The fuel pump will run constantly when the engine is running.
Have the HT leads from the coil been disturbed at all, I would check that they are connected in the ...
If you're plugs are wet and its sparking, it might just be flooded. Mine always flooded when I was using my old leads. How old are your leads?
As long as your battery is fully charged, you could try taking the plug off the bottom of the fuel cut off switch (its on the left side of the engine bay, on the bulkhead, next to the bonnet open switch) and crank it over for a bit, and see if it ...
still no closer to figuring out wot the f...s up with the car but did a compression test and heres the results 1. 210 2. 210 3. 210 4. 210 think that means there all ok seeing there all the same (not sure wot they should be ????) so happy there the same but still no closer to fixing the prob
The crank sensor output is used by the ECU to time the ignition and fuelling. If there is spark and injector drive then the crank sensor must be working. If the fuel pump failed to run while cranking the engine on the starter motor the engine would attempt to fire on the small residual fuel pressure present from when the pump primed the system. The ECU conectors are pretty robust and rarely cause an intermittent connection, the problems...
coil packs.................. 1&4 2&3 it's a waste spark system these go to the cylinder order of 1 2 3 4, no 1 drivers side/cam-belt side. in the waste spark system each plug fires twice on the four strokes, hence how opposite cylinders are paired together.

As long as your battery is fully charged, you could try taking the plug off the bottom of the fuel cut off switch (its on the left side of the engine bay, on the bulkhead, next to the bonnet open switch) and crank it over for a bit, and see if it eventually fires once some fuel has been pumped out...
