Thread: can't get into Search Index

my site has been down for days due to Error 1203 (max connections) and i think i found the answer which is to change from native to fulltext. i tried to chang the setting to use fulltext but it wont get past the Confirm Change page, and when i go to the Maintenance tab to build a new index, it will not go to the page; it just sits there. any other pages in acp will come up except those. i have ...

could this be table related? all of the stuck processes in phpmyadmin say "waiting for tables" i cant get into the tables of the database for this forum either. (host has an open ticket on that one) is this pic showing bad things?

This more sounds like a issue with your host. Try contacting them first, before you start changing things .

Since max connections is a variable set server-side, how do they figure this is a phpbb issue?

Seems like your forum saved sessions into database and you have configured it to save sessions till user log out manual. Please configure your application to save sessions on the web server and also to automatically expire them after 30 minutes. This will completely solve this issue. Also please check usefull article regarding mentioned error message and phpbb at "http://www.phpbb.com/community...

What is the setting for admin -> load settings -> session time? If its 3600 (A hour), or less, its ok. If its more, change it to 3600. If its 3600 or less it should not provide any problems. As you are using 3.0.5, the issues linked in the other topic should not be a problem, as that should be fixed already.

looks like the host has fixed their end. do i need ot set the session length back to 3600?

The search function was changed to use less CPU from mysql in 3.0.5
