well any vehicles remote start should be hooked up to the brake pedal to turn off the remote start when you hit the brakes! if there is no wire going to the brake pedal switch then IMO go ahead and take the truck to a alarm shop and have them remove his crappy install and put it in properly or get another one all together. sounds like the guy tried to install his own and did a horible job! a alarms really not that hard to install if you have...

Addiction to Bass is correct but the reason I didn't mention above about cutting and taping the starter wire is depending on the system you have installed in your truck, if you do not diable the remote start function and you push the button(s) by accident the starter itself will still go thru the process of trying to remote start because the system does not know the wire has been cut and the lights will blink (if hooked up)and it will go...

Are you asking if you could disable the remote start function? If so, yes. There is always an input to defeat the remote start such as a hood pin. Just apply the appropriate signal or lack of signal to that wire.

I'd pull that thing out completely. You'll find your starter wire was likely cut cut for anti-grind... you'll need to repair that. Once all that's fixed, get a good keyless unit (assuming you dont want a remote start) I Recommend DEI or Excalibur, hope that helps
