My two were in the senior section and it was terrible. A friend had two in the lower school, recently her husband got offered a job back in Riyadh and they turned it down due to schooling issues, she says she would never put her children back there. There are some good pre-schools on the compounds, but eventually they have to go to school and if you want the British system it's BISR or nothing...

Some of the teachers are fantastic, but unfortunately the overall management, teaching etc. of the school is not on a par with what is available elsewhere in the Gulf. I too hope the new headmaster brings it back up to scratch - it has good facilities - better than where my kids are now, but the overall teaching and management is better here. I am currently being interviewed for a job out in Riyadh so I did some early research on the school situation ... I have to say that the response from the British School has been quick and really helpful so far. It is difficult from here in the UK to work out what the school is REALLY like so be great to hear from parents who have kids who have recently joined. Thanks

basically the management changed - they couldn't, apparently, get anyone to go over as head so it was given to someone already there, when she left they had an acting head who didn't really want the job. It doesn't take long for any business to go downhill if the top management structure isn't what it should be. But as I've said before a lot of staff have been replaced and there is a new...

I kept my family out of kingdom during that period and stayed on bachelor status, like many and didn't bring them back in again until well after the Al Khobar incident.
