Ok, so now it's September and they are still not there. I always thought knowing what the model answer should be was a prerequisite to marking exams...

If they wait too long, my appeal will become an epic... in verse.

question 7: bob's coverage doesn't provide any coverage for susan's injuries? If your UM coverage is not primary, there is no coverage for other passengers?

SMMBB SMMBB is offline replied 3 months, 1 week ago
Susan's coverage is primary because it is her car. Bob was not at fault.

the authors were paid for writing the text, albeit likely a small fraction of what their time was worth (as consultants). there was an rfp and they responded. it is work product of the authors representing their company. there are usually "about the authors" blurbs on publications. I don't see how it is an ad unless you consider the company name/logo underneath all the authors inappropriate...

How much of the material on exam 5 comes from 3L and 4? I have yet to take those and I am considering taking Exam 5 in the spring and just wanted some advice.

tommie frazier replied 3 months ago

In the current syllabus, it's Chapt 15 of Werner & Modlin. In the previous syllabus, I believe it was covered in Sherwood.

the 18 month wait was covered in another thread somewhere. i find it unfortunate, at least. the worst is for folks who need the nation specific exam for ACAS in 2010 and fail, leaving them 18 months to wait. if/when they get to offering exams twice a year, the new 5 (basic rates/reserves) will be the first to get that treatment. but I doubt it will happen until after the transitional half exam period is over (so 2-3 years). if something else...

Someone pointed out to me that I could do 5/9 this year. That would still put me finishing in spring '12. The only problem with that is that I would miss 6 this year and have to do the half exam + adv reserving in the same sitting - then again, this would be the equivalent of studying for 6 this year, I believe. I thought about starting with 7 as well. I am unsure of that route, simply because I've heard it is very difficult and...

For the CPCU stuff, your company may already have the books for people taking the CPCU exam.

Ok- good to know. I plan on starting now for 5 given that I try not to do too much studying at home per week or my family begins to protest. Well, hopefully I pass 4 and it's not an issue.
