just had a set of these fitted to my mk1 fazer last week,
one major point i will make is that these tyres on my bike make way too much road noise
just the front mind, it sounds like I'm on my suzuki dr200 with knobblies on
is there anyway of stopping the noise, I checked the pressures and they are fine,
the tyres feel good apart from the constant dronning/humming,
Apparently this is an undocumented feature of these tyres. I've just had a pair fitted and hadn't notice anything with the recent blustery weather,
until I was pulling into the car park at work on Friday. I can only describe it as a droning from the front tyre.
I just had some fitted yesterday and over 30mph you get loads of noise from the front. So long as it's only noise, and it affects everyone then I can put up
with it :-P
The annoying thing is that now I've noticed it, I notice it all the time lol
Still, small price to pay for having the 2006 FZ1 feel on my 2008 model, a planted bike and a grinning biker again
I know what you mean Rence, the 021 is actually a better tyre, but the road noise is defo an issue. As it seems to be FZS600 specific, I doubt the manufacturer
will be that bothered.
just had my second set of 021s fitted to a gen 1 thou and havent noticed any noise , I will keep an ear open as doing a few miles today only got 1 mile on just
now , report to follow .

Sorry, Pete, didn't mean to exclude your post, not heard of the problem much from the thou boys. If you didn't notice it cos' the weather was
blustery your not getting the same amount as the 6's are, cos' it's immediately apparent as you're riding away from the tyre place.
Oddly, if you remove the front mudguard the noise all but dissappears.
I might chuck a post on the nest and see if ...
So, its possibly wind noise from the flow of air between the tyre, and mudguard due to profile differences of the 2 parts. I've not used/seen the 21's
yet, but it they are more 'pointed' then would changing the inner profile of the mudguard work? I'm thinking maybe some padded (draft excluder)
tape run along the lower inner edge would change the air flow between the two and possibly the noise ...
Sorry, Taff, you've missed my point, I was gently ribbing you all . Yes, forums like this are ideal for helping people decide. You say "if the road noise issue was widely known " Well it is widely known. Lots of discussions about the tyre in general. 021 wear So you are absolutly right, this discussion could save somebody making an expensive mistake, but only if they read it first. That was my point mate. Les

The right hand side of the front tyre wears quicker than the rest of the tyre....bizzare, heard this from other folks to so it's not just me. Cant wait to get these tyres off.
Thanks for all the feedback I'm now going to avoid a M&G moment as I'm having a BT020 rear tyre fitted tomorrow I had thought about the 021, but it seems like too many folks have found increased noise after having them fitted.
No noice from mine either , fitted on a Thou though.... Almost up to the 20000Km mark and it is the first time my front and back tyre show the same amount of wear... Usually had to use 2 rear ones and 1 front during the tyre life time. Riden a lot in town , in wet and on long trips with speeds over 200km/h. (1500kms last time driving down from Romania to Piraeaus, one go) They seem to have worn more on one side but that must be my good...
Just had a new BT 021 fitted this afternoon (replacement for same) as it was the only tyre the garage had available-wanted to change to roadsmarts really because of the racket from the front tyre and the reports that the Dunlops are better tyres. Just checked my mileage on the computer and I only got 20 more miles from my front tyre than the rear 021!!!! Couldn't believe it! Plenty of tread in the middle but nearly illegal on the sides...
I've had 021's on mine for the last 5000 miles, I got a puncture in the back tyre yesterday and sadly it couldn't be repaired. I've had a new 021 fitted on the back as I strongly believe this was an improvement on the 020 rear and while I was there as I've been pretty pissed off with the front I changed it to a 020, a quiet front end again, cheaper as well. By the way the front was more worn than the rear with the wear...
