What kind of back links are best now adays
I have heard it said that directory submitions are becoming obsolete Is this true.
Also a lot of sites that allow you to post a link want one back in return but this can get messy and once again I have heard it said that google putting less importance on these types of links
So what is are the best kind of links
I never used it for deep links. Are the links really that important? Personally I'd just edge towards creating satellite sites with a relevant domain name.
I have set up suidoo lenses for two of my sites, google has crawled the sites and is not showing any backlinks from suidoo. Anyone got any ideas why. the lenses contain links to my site but have not been read by anyone yet.
Google I believe is cracking down on Squidoo (as are squidoo themselves) as it is now renowned, and only talked about online in terms of spamming it full of crap content to use for linkbuilding.
Just finished my first web-site after suffering from the Newbie syndrome of reading for months and doing nothing. Thought I would share with you what I did and hopefully get some feed-back and new ideas.

As selectsplat said, there are actually 2 kinds of PageRank. Your URL's "actual" PR (the one used for ranking purposes... the one you never know...) is updated constantly... not sure when you posted the signature links and did the link building. also not sure how many backlinks you have and form where. since you added it on your signature, just do a little bit of posting for the next few days and it will work. also do some bookmarking on popular social bookmarking site that will help as well.

This info is 8 years old and not news. The search feature returns much better results. If you want to take a whack at SEO for your own site, read your profile page and fill out the blog link piece hope that helps, Nigel

I suggest you not to concentrate on PR because it's not very important so much now a days, try to collect quality do follow back links because these are helpful to make good SERP.
what keywords you're targeting, make sure the keywords is not competitive to rank in SERP, continue to build backlinks for your website and fresh content updated..
