Started 1 month, 1 week ago by uspbop
I just bought a thompson auto ordance 1911 A1 in 400 cor bon and it also had the 45 acp barrel with it , I gave $405 for it total after taxes . Did I get a good deal on it ? What can I expect out the 400 cor bon round is it a good caliber. I say the pistol was 90% good shape. You bought a AO 1911 chambered in .45, that someone fitted a 400 cor-bon barrel in. If the gun is reliable with .45 ammo, I'd say you got a good deal. The 400 Cor-bon was Cor-bon's answer to the 10mm, or rather it was designed to mimic the ballistics of the 10mm. You have a .45 casing that was necked down to fit a .40 caliber bullet. If the barrel was a drop in part, it would fit ...

I bought it at a gun shop were the owner is also a gun smith . He said it had adjustable trigger in it as far as I know everything else is stock and yes it orginally was chambered for 45acp and someone dropped the 400 corbon barrel in it. I been researching the 400 corbon round on the the net it seems pretty impressive.

Mine have been great. I've got the standard GI and the Thompson Custom model. They're a hell of a lot better than that crap Taurus puts out, that's for sure. I think they're better quality than Para also.

Para's quality is below average, in my opinion. I do like my GI Expert quite a bit, but I'm very ho-hum about my 1911 Limited that was more than twice the price. I also had a Warthog that gave new meaning to junk. Since Kahr took over at AO, I'm seeing much improved quality. The Thompson Custom is actually a very decent $650-$700 1911. There aren't many being made either, so ...

I am going to replace the main spring in it (I guess that is what you call it) . I looked on brownells and they list several different pound springs for 1911's what pound should I buy?

Jason D replied 1 month, 1 week ago
I'd go with at least an 18 to 20 pound spring

YES I have been waiting for a war between BAC and Dancer since this thread opened. BAC and I love our AO's, Dancer loves his Para. The saga continues................ To the OP, you got it a little below market. You did fine. I think you will like it but I know Dancer will rips us for not buying that thing Para calls a GI.
