Started 1 month, 1 week ago by archertwo
Hi guys. I'm new to the site. I've only been on here for a few days but if first impressions are what people should base their thoughts on this site is pretty cool. Anyways I decided this summer to upgrade my logsplitter by making a new one. The one I had was a store bought one that I got well over 30 years old. It was on its third engine, the newest being a 9HP Honda replacing the initial 8HP...

You can still get the convenience of a pellet stove with a wood stove or fireplace insert. You simply burn bio-bricks or some other type compressed wood brick or log. The beauty of the wood stove is that it throws more heat and you can always burn wood in a pinch. Attached are two pics of products that you can burn in your stove. The salesman for Logike told me that you only need to burn two ...

What do you know about them. I have a 750 sq ft space that needs heated. Currently I have a HUGE stove made for a 2200 foot plus space that was in it when I bought the house.....too hot and not efficient.

Kickback while the bar is buried is usually not a problem as long as the cut is proceeding. Keep your chain sharp. If the saw won't pull itself through the cut, it needs to be sharped. Cutting crooked, even slightly - sharp the chain. Nothing will irritate you more than to have to go aroundthe other side and then your cut doesn't match up due to a 'curve'. Start ...

Just a thought to ponder on. If wood is dry, generally no critters. Critters need water (moisture)to live. Plenty of food but nuthin' to drink will kill most anything. I kiln most of my bundle wood when i can, always dry and kiln log furniture wood prior to making it. Buck it before you load your truck, Split it when you bring it in!,easier to pull off the truck and load the ...

Being a keen welder you never get bored trying to improve what you have designed / built. I have been fed up with all the cra p that falls of the machine while splitting, and having to clear up after. Also i thought it was a bit of a waste! So i modifyed my splitters table to a slotted type, and to carry net bags to catch the cra p to be used as kindling. Have a look, and rate my video ...

Ole Av's probably gonna let us "swing in the breeze" - bad pun fully intended - for a while before he posts back here, either that or he's deep into a bottle of Mr Daniel's finest, either celebrating or licking wounds :d

splitting time is going to vary a great deal depending on a lot of factors.Size of rounds to be split, ability to clear your area, size of machine, and above all else type of wood. Easiest I have found has got to be red oak.Pops apart and rarely needs the full stroke to make it bust.Hickory has got to be the worst.Shreds apart, lots of stringers and heavy to boot. I have a Troybilt 27 ton with a table, 4 way wedge, and in red oak I average a...
