Hey congrats, you (and others here) are sure doing a lot with stock suspension Cougars and modest sized engines. This weekend was such nice weather. I noticed you were at Atco. Do you ever go to Maple Grove and Cecil County? If you do, do you ever notice a difference between how your car runs at both tracks? For me, my naturally aspirated drag car always runs about a tenth and a half quicker...
I race both, Cecil is always faster, I am usually a tenth slower at Maple
Grove than Atco or Cecil ,which are both closer to sea level than the Grove. Atco was 500' below sea level on Sat., everyone was fast
Also, Atco and Cecil usually get slower at night when the humidity comes
in. Do you race there much? I just saw pics of a blue 69 running at Maple
Grove on Sat , I believe it ran 13's, ...
Thanks for the track info, that makes sense. Didn't bother to reasearch the elevations of the tracks, interesting. You are seeing the same difference as I do, pretty much.
Unfortunately Saturday was my 1st time out this year (ugh), i had intentions on going earlier in the fall but October was such a washout. I have a bracket car that I tool around with (83 Monte Carlo that runs 11-flat)....

engine is n/a, I mostly run brackets, next year I will run the 10.00 index
races and Cecil County . I just need to get the car to run 9.90's in the
heat. Running and transbrake in pro is not allowed in any tracks around
me, but I do have one in my Maverick, I never use it and I never been
hassled
I have posted a vid and couple of pics before, I will see if I can round
more up
Hey Man, very nice. I am happy for you, you made it. Good feeling uh? Your ol Wheezer is a haulin. I was hoping it would only high 9's, but ya got me Ray . I just got my Fiberglass hood back from the painter. I will bolt it on this weekend. I weighed myself in car at Norwalk came out to 3255lbs. Goal for winter is bigger ci, and 3200 with me in it. Talk to you later....Tim
Tim, thanks again, your post about installing that 2 inch super sucker carb spacer really helped me get into the 80's, It was worth a tenth.
Can't wait to see your hood done.
Jeff, nice pics, very cool cougar. That is first time I've seen your cougar, My dad has been racing our cougar since 1975 at area tracks. I remember racing at Maguire's Air Force base in NJ back in the 80's, but I am too young to remember Vargo,Hatfield, or Vineland. I've been trying to get to the Vargo reunion, but race rain dates keep me from getting there.
Yes,as a matter of fact. Thanks for asking. Go to the gallery, and enter finagler. You will find some photos i posted. #1 is from Atco,Nj,in '67.Car was fresh out of construction, and in teething. #2 Southern Dragway,Dallas,Ga. fall 1970. #3Mason-Dixon Dragway,Hagerstowm,Md. spring '70 #4Suffolk,Va. fall,'70 #5Publicity photo,'69 #6 Photo from article in SS&DI mag,Cecil County,Md. I guess I need to update my sig. a little. The combo now is a 454W with the same heads and intake. But instead of carbed it is now Methanol injected. But the intake is not ported. I will give more details later.
