Thread: another SAS toyota

Started 3 years, 2 months ago by blazinzuk
Heres where we are at with ozzys toyota. Trailgear sent us some wrong parts so we grabbed a parts axle to put on to set the shackle angle. The axle is way far forward and we need to move the front crossmember back a little ways still to get a better shackle angle. Tommorow we will do the rear lift cut the welds on the front cross member ( good thing we only did a couple of 1" stitch welds) ...

Nice, keep us updated, I like the looks of it and the tire size with minimal lift. I am going to be doing the same thing, trying to get enought to clear 39.5 IROK's. How far forward are you going to end up with the front axle? I'll ask more details later, but looks great!

ozzy replied 3 years, 2 months ago
The axle is sitting almost 4 inches forward from stock right now. Like blazinzuk said, it needs to come back about 3/4". Between that and the springs setteling a bit there should be a nice shackle angel. It's a fun project and there's a ton more to do. The steering box is getting moved 2.5 inches forward, we need to make a front driveshaft and then all the little things here and there that all ...

dang, out of all the nights I've put into this thing I had to miss the funnest one yet. Looking good man.

Eric, if I was you I would think twice about moving that axle back if he's going to run 38's with 3" of lift it needs to be that far forward. I moved my axle 5.5" forward and I'm really close to rubbing with 35's..........just a suggestion

Yah we are going to put the rear lift on it tonight and try to flex it with the engine hoist just to see where everything is going to end up at. We also cut the firewall back in anticipation of the 38.5s. It got cut back a minimum 2 extra inches. Should be a pretty neat truck when it finally gets done. The goal is to get the tires to fit with no body rub at all.

ozzy replied 3 years, 2 months ago
There really isn't much of the firewall left, or the body mount for that matter. You really can't tell with the fender on there, but there is a ton of room, I think they'll fit fairly well. Thanks for the heads up though!

Well the buildup is wrapping up. I really didn't have much time to work on it and Eric was busy with several customers rigs so the last couple of weeks have been slow going. I've gotta thank Eric for all his help! The work coming out of his shop is extremely nice and well thought out, and the best part is that the prices are really reasonable. As it sits: 3" trail gear springs front and ...
