Thread: XD 45 vs XD 9/40sc frame width?

Started 2 months, 3 weeks ago by phxccw
Is the slide width on the XD45 the same as the 9mm/40 regardless of barrel length? I'm looking at a IWB holster for my 40 compact but the holster is for the xd45.

They are slightly different. Something like .1" or so. Get the correct holster.

i use a 9SC iwb (slide type) holster for my .45c and it's pretty good, doesn't feel perfect but works just fine for me.

+1 on getting the right holster. The two slides and frames are different and you should only carry in the appropriate rig to avoid your heat bouncing out when you bend over to pick up a package of your wife's StayFrees at Walmart.

I carry an XD45C in a K&D Holster made for an XD40 Service. I have also carried an XD9SC in the same holster. There may be some holster that would cause a problem but I haven't seen one yet. If you stick with holster that have a retention adjustment screw you will not have any problem. I even carry my Wather PPS in a DeSantis XD9 holster and it works fine.

I carry both an XD45 and XD9SC and I have yet to find a holster that doesn't fit both (besides the ones that come in the kit from Springfield) and I have a drawer full of holsters for them.
