Thread: XBox can't see NETGEAR DG834N since firmware upgrade

Started 2 months, 4 weeks ago by afward
Hi, I've got a Netgear DG834N which I have just upgraded to the latest firmware (1.02.15). Now all my connections are fine (2xlaptops, PS3, Epson Wireless Printer and iPhone) BUT the Xbox360 cannot now SEE the router at all. Prior to the firmware upgrade the Xbox360 saw and connected to the router perfectly. Does anyone have any ideas or should I go back to my original firmware ...

If the previous firmware worked fine then go back to that or was there a specific reason you upgraded the firmware ?

To be honest it was an Edmund Hillary moment, just cause it was there. Although I have noticed an increase in throughput speed since the upgrade. Except for the 360 of course :-) I think my previous version was 1.01.02 which is quite old, I might go back to 1.02.08 first to see if that works with the 360.

Hi - did exactly the same thing (upgraded firmware) and now can't connect to xbox either. Did you have any joy by going to an older version?

Did you do any port forwarding etc on the router? As these settings will have likely to have been reset when the new firmware was loaded and will need reloading. Mark..

I've got encryption set to WPA2, but on ...

Slacker, I've re-installed firmware x.x.15 and it now works fine. In fact I get a better signal to the xBox using x.x.15 than I did with x.x.08 so I think it's worth upgrading. Use the procedure I detailed above, setting to No security, setup xBox connection (scan for router), connect to live, then change security (I used Mixed WPA and WPA2) and then re-connect xBox to live and it should...
