Thread: XBOX360 vs. PS3

Thanks for the input guys! I still have no clue.. neither does he. He isn't a hardcore gamer and would like a Blu Ray, but our brothers and BILs all play a 360 online.. I doubt that our connection is fast enough. I like that a PS3 doesn't charge a fee to play online. I asked him again tonight, but he doesn't know enough about them to make a decision either.

In regards to the internet connection speed, I have a 1MBps (megabyte per second) speed for my internet and I play online without any real problem. Game selection is better for the XBOX. However, you have to pay to play online (~$45 year) with the XBOX. Also, with the XBOX, there are some pretty pricey accessories that you may need. The only real benefit of a PS3 is the bluray player. Both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 play Dvd's. You cannot play online games on PS3 online versus friends who have xbox. Xbox 360 is more for the social gamer, with xbox 360 you are able to make "parties" where all of your friends playing can chat no matter what game they are playing. I have the PS3 and the primary purpose was to use it as a Blu-Ray player. I don't play video games, and my husband only plays Madden, so either system would have worked for him. Just waiting for my disc from Netflix , whenever that is available, so that I can stream to the PS3.

The primary reason I bought the XBox360 over the PS3 was MCE - the Xbox 360 can easily be used as a Media Center Extender. We have all our DVDs and stuff on our HTPC, so being able to stream it to the computer upstairs via MC was a major bonus. You can stream on the PS3 as well, but it is not as a seamless experience.

In fact they play each other. lol. they do not like to do it on the same tv just online.
