Thread: Wtb Powered Sub - Reasonable Quality And Price

Started 1 month ago by Bertzz
I am looking to buy a sub and the SVS PB-13 Ultra would be my first choice but at $3K its out of reach. I would also love a Vel DD-15 but thats even more. So I am left looking for a less capable product or a secondhand one. If anyone has something along the lines below and are looking to upgrade drop me a PM with the details, price, location etc. Velodyne (Cht-12 or 15) or maybe Impact 10 ...

Today a bunch of goodies arrived from Middle Atlantic in the US- Hmm Well Packed Inside Goodies So I started putting them on the rack. I started with the wheels that I am going to use on the carpet until I move to a bulit in down the track. I was going to go with the skirted base wheels but they wouldn't of given me enough clearance. Middle Atlantic 5W Wheels Middle Atlantic...

QUOTE (grantc84 @ Sep 1 2009, 10:02 AM) Are Blu Ray drives region coded? Couldn't really see the info on the sites that sell them. My LG was not sure if the pioneers are but I suspect that they all are however Anydvd HD(paid software from slysoft) will allow you to play an region disks. I found it to be an excellent investment Mel

mr.bitey replied 3 months, 1 week ago
Bluray drives are region coded (so is the OS).. Anydvdhd is one way around the issue, the other is custom firmware (see www.rpc1.org) Cheers, Bitey

I am after a bit of advice on setting up a HTPC. Havent decided if I want to go down this track but to me the idea of having it setup like this seems pretty handy/cool. What sort of cost am I looking at for entry level to mid level? What are the benefits / disadvantages of having one setup?

zzkazu replied 3 months, 1 week ago
I have been building/using HTPC's now for some 8 years. I wouldn't look back in terms of flexibility and stability (took a while to get there). Definitely high WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) now. However, I also have a dedicated HT room for the real stuff. Real advantages music/photo/video library and PVR (I use IceTV).

QUOTE (grantc84 @ Sep 1 2009, 08:13 AM) What sort of cost am I looking at for entry level to mid level? Well..the most economical yet worthwhile system I've scoped out was about $950 (without any monitor, of course - your AVR will be doing that through HDMI) and it's quite ready to the task of storing and playing back MP3s/videos, storing and displaying home photosets, playing ...

Hi All, After recentlly returning from a lengthy overseas deploymnt i have decided to start the change out of some of my gear. Reason..............I am completely converted to ARCAM. I spent some pretty serious time listening to various gear whilst having a break in the UK on the way home and now know where i want to go on the 2 channel side. So i need to make some room in the rack and...

Hey guys, I'm looking at one of these soundbars *ducks for cover* atm http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores...#spec ifications I know performance isn't going to be any special, but I'm just looking to improve on the standard TV speaker performance at the moment and don't have room for a 5.1 system. I've seen the Yamaha sound bars and what not but they seem to be closer to the $2k+ ...

QUOTE (Mjr69 @ Dec 10 2009, 11:41 AM) Hey Jutta - can they squeeze the cables in the box with the amp - or did you have to pay freight separately? If so how much please? I sent an email off to them yesterday and they haven't answered yet. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sad.gif ) Cables were in the box. 2 x 4m XSS (X Series Speaker - their code) so room for 8m of cable. No further charge for freight. They just put them in....

Thanks for the pics mate. Damn, they look great. I don't know if I could fit one of those as a centre. QUOTE (crabra @ Dec 10 2009, 08:10 PM) Ok I will bring this back over here. Here are a few pics of them hooked up. Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 As you can see the set is far from ideal. I just wanted to at least hear them before they get put away in storage. We are probably going to make a move out of the city next year to a more...

QUOTE (jklow888 @ Dec 9 2009, 09:57 PM) So $ for $ would you consider it the "no brainer" choice of the 2 ? I dont know since I havent heard the Elektra. However, the value of the XPA-5 will be hard to beat.

All the Best with your sale, Simon. I have always had admiration for these loudspeakers. Certainly among the very best at this price-level. Nice-looking, small floor-standing loudspeakers which sound wonderful. I have listened to the RS6's on a couple of occasion. First time I heard it was in a dark room at Frank Prowse Hi Fi (before they moved to Stirling Highway) while a movie was being shown and the sound was incredible! I...

QUOTE (beejay76 @ Dec 11 2009, 09:46 AM) First, sorry about this Mods, this post is probably not entirely relevant here. I've been tearing my hair out trying to find a post of about 2-3 weeks ago of another DTV member recommending a good/cheap interstate freight service for shipping HiFi gear. I have an amp to ship from Perth to the east, but at 29kg it's too heavy for Australia Post. Can anyone recommend a good...
