Thread: Would you have bought them: used CZ 75 and Hi-Power?

The family and I just got back from the local fun gun store, where I was perusing their vast selection of quality knives since I need a new blade (airport story, don't ask...). As usual, I stopped by the used gun counter, since used weapons are about all I can afford now besides the new Glocks from the LE Distributor. Anyway, there were two weapons in the case within my price range...you know...
I definately would've bought the BHP, even though I have 2 of them already and am not all that enamored with the 9mm version. I much prefer my CZ75B SA for 9mm. Anyways, where else could you get a quality 9mm range gun for $259. If you happened to like it. It would be a good one to do some minor mods on, trigger job and sights without feeling bad about changing it. The CZ seems a little high...
I would buy the HP in a heart beat. Any old HP in decent condition is worth at least $350 if not more. "The wisdom of a fool won't set you free." New Order
I would not have bought a bumper chrome Browning with somebody else's initials scratched in it. The CZ is not a bargain but is not a bad deal. By the way, nickel frame and blue slide are a correct two-tone finish, going back to early IPSC when the rationale was protecting the reciever from sweaty hands and keeping glare out of the sight line on the slide. Things like Sig-Sauers where they ...
IMO you did the right thing passing on both. I had a CZ75, but got rid of it due to IMO was the worst trigger on any handgun I've ever owned. Otherwise solid and reliable. An HP is certainly a classic, but sound like there are better examples to be found than the one you saw.
I had a similar delima this week in a local shop. I had a little money and wanted something new. I had been to this shop a few times and fondled a CZ 9mm and an FN BHP. The CZ was $289 and the FN was $299. Both were in 85% condition. I went back this week to buy one of them. I handled them again and decided that neither was right for me. I just didn't like them, I was only interested in ...

You can easily get the HP re-parked and the initials removed. For around $400 you'd have a refinished older model HP, in my book that's a good deal. "The wisdom of a fool won't set you free." New Order
If that was a T series, it might be worth picking up. They have crap sites but quality and fit are the best. Here's mine NavyGuy P226 9mm, P228TT, P239 SAS .40, HK P2000SK .40, Kahr PM9, SW 637, Ruger Sec Six. 357 Snubby, BHP 9mm, Ruger Mark I
Just something about that extractor...why did the design change to an external piece? Ease of manufacture, reliability, what? _________________________________________________________ G21SF * 92 FS Inox * P228 * G19 * PM9 * Ruger MK II
NavyGuy, Awesome HP brywards, Why would the age bother you? The Canadians still use the WWII Inglis and the Brits still have WWII era HPs in use. The HP is a rugged design, assuming that there's no damage, a repark, sanding off the initials and change of springs would give you a great pistol. "The wisdom of a fool won't set you free." Brywards, the original internal extractors used to break a lot, especially when the side sling shot over a round directly put in the chamber. So, FN redesigned it to be more durable and reliable. If you want a BHP for extensive shooting, it is better to go with a MKIII version which is refined for handling the .40 SW cartrigde. If you want a BHP just for your collection with limited amount of shooting, with standard pressure ammunition,it is...
