Thread: Worried! (first smear for 7 years)

I had my first smear when I was 22 after the birth of my son back in 1996. The results came back as borderline. I returned again 6 months later and the results were still borderline. I did not follow this up until 2002 as far as I can remember. I was referred for a colopscopy and I am sure treatment took place there and then. I feel such a fool as I have not returned for a smear for 7 years ...

Hi there, Try not to worry too much (easier said than done I know). You just need to go on Thursday and then if all is fine that is brilliant and if it isn't you can deal with it, there is so much that can be done you know. I don't want that to sound gloomy and I am sure all will be well but you know here at Jo's there are loads of women going through the same thing and we are all here for you. ...

Please dont worry,i had an abnormal border line smear about 18 years ago,and was so scared that i didnt go back,i kept ignoring reminders and told myself if i had cancer i didnt want to know and the longer it went on the more convinced i was that i had cancer.in feb this year i finally agreed to a smear and it came back severely abnormal,i then totally paniked but it all turned out ok,i had lletz...

Hi there, Try not to worry too much (easier said than done I know).
