Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by Icantdive55
I'm trying to restore a windshield frame off a 65. Inside by the vents are several holes that I can't tell if they are factory or PO. The rig was bought new without a heater so I don't have the defroster pieces that MIGHT fasten into place here. If you have an early ...

That is a confusing view - 2 different pics, correct? I just did my windshield & other than the screwholes to mount the sheetmetal defrost guides at the top of inside bottom of the frame, I do not recall any other holes near the defrost aperatures. If no one else can definitively answer you, I can check my old frame & tell you what was there.

The lower two holes are for bolts for holders 90482-08002 that hold down the windshield wiper wire harness.

[QUOTE=Buckwheat;4946026]That is a confusing view - 2 different pics, correct? QUOTE] No. It's one pic and it 's close up so we can see the holes. If it was mounted to the rig you would be looking through the drivers side of the windshield. Thanks IDave. I semi remembered something being there when I did the tear down. I thought I took really good documentation but now I know better. I ...

the defrost vent drops down there and 3 screws hold it in.i have several 64 65 w shields and they all have those 3 holes .the 2 lower holes are not in any of my w shields the wiper motor wire runs down the side and through the cowl .good luck

The wire holders are inside the cowl, as you say, shelfboy. Sorry yours are missing the holes. My truck has exactly those two holes, although only one had a wire bracket, but that is what is in there.

Thanks Guys, I will not fill the 3 holes. They are stock. I thought that they might be for the defrost vents. Rod

id dave is right my problem is they w shields are on newer trucks and the das pad hid those holes .the 2 holes have wire holders as stated on the bottom .the other one has no holes, were the fst ones different.i dont know how they folded down with the wires running through the defrost vents.

My '73 just has the lower and upper defrost aperatures in the bottom of the frame & my harness is secured on the left and across the top. You have aperatures on four sides? That was what was confusing me.
