Thread: Windshield for R60/5

Started 1 month ago by workm62521
My wife recently purchased a '73' R60/5. We would like to purchase a frame mounted clear (non cafe') windshield. Anyone know who would sell such an item for that old of bike?

Secdem sells 3 handle bar mounted windshields for /5's. French made. Looks like small, medium and large. I think they went under the names of Pullman, Ranger, forgot the other one. Moto-Bins sells them. Other dealers may handle them.

I recently bought a Parabellum windshield for my R90/6 and it fits perfectly. I did not like their upper mounting arrangement, but it was easy to modify it. The windscreen shape and size fits my R90/6 very well.

I recently (3 or 4 months ago) bought a Parabellum windshield for my R80/7. I bought the one they called tall. Maybe tall for a tall midget. I sent it back and had them make me a windshield that was 2 inches taller than their tall windshield and it is still a little to short. It could really use 2 more inches. They wouldn't make it anymore than 2" taller because of the weak mounting system....

I think you can find Wixom fairings for a /5 in the Flea Market now and then as well as ibmwr.org and ebay. They are pretty light, but the windsceens seem flimsy to me. I'd also look into a frame mounted fairing for stability. Having the fairing shift while entering a turn, even slightly with the lean changes the handling characteristics. Just my $0.02

"Frame mounted clear (non cafe') windshield", I don't know of a frame mounted device that isn't a full fairing. On my /5's, I use a Givi short screen on the white one and switch between a Memphis Shades Hellcat and a Wixom Ranger fairing on the blue one. The Memphis and the Givi are 2 point handlebar mounted screens and should still be available. The Wixom Brothers company is long gone. I know a ...

I have to agree with the comments made above about the Parrabellum windshield. While the windshield is excellent, the mounting system is cheaply made and did not work well on my R90/6. I decided to forget the top mounting system because I did not want to take my front forks apart. I bought a couple clamps at the local hardware store and mounted the top mounts to the handlebars. This rig has ...
