Got a crack in my windscreen - heard a fair crack one day but never saw anything. A friend spotted it from the passenger seat yesterday, crack lying behind the rear view mirror. A few mm across. What is the best way to get the windscreen replaced ? I am back in the UK at the moment. In Switzerland you normally have to go back to the dealer. Will ask at my Garage tomorrow. Are the ...

Either way the repair or replacement will be covered on insurance. If Autoglass say a repair isn't possible then they will replace. Repairs are pretty good but can fail especially in Winter when frost can affect the repair. Had several screens replaced by them. It's down to the installer on how good the job is. I've always had good service and would never have known the screen was replaced.

Thanks, just had a blether with my brother who doesn't really rate the repairs. He deals a lot with the windscreen boys, and it would be done in the Garage. Looks like I will have to practice my German while asking the insurance about this One new Frontscheibe coming up ... D.

ill leave it and take bets which way the crack goes,

I had similar and after a year got larger and was never repairable so I replaced the screen with Autoglass.. did a very good job at their outlet.
