I think the hard drive disk is fvcked and you will have to replace it with a new one, but first try to obtain a copy of winXP from a friend , otherwise download a version from a torrent site.

Does anyone know where I can get one? My mate's nephew screwed up his laptop (I get an UNMOUNTABLE_DISK_ERROR no matter what I try) and he never got a windows installation CD, which everywhere I've read says that I need to fix this error. So where can I order/download one? The laptop has Windows XP Home Edition, 95% sure that its SP2 as well. Thanks in advance

you'll just have to borrow one from somewhere. There must at least a few of your mates who have a legit copy? Not sure on this, but, if a person buys a laptop with an OS already installed, surely he has paid for the OS too? Meaning, whoever he bought it off should have provided a Win XP disk with it? When my son bought his latest pc he insisted AND got his XP disk with it. I know, its in mine now
