Thread: Will I have a bottleneck with the HD5770?

Started 2 months, 4 weeks ago by sayo7
Hello. I want to upgrade my graphic card to the hd5770. my cpu is amd athlon ii x4 620 2.61 ghz. 19 inch screen 1280*1024. some people told me it will be just fine, and there were others who said i will a bottleneck (someone said he has the 5770 card and Q6600 @3Ghz after OC and he has a bottleneck) I wanted to assure before I buy it that I wont have any problems such as bottleneck, and it will...

Look through this benchmark......look for your res...look at the numbers...... then read the first paragraph of the conclusion section.......... personally I would never buy a graphics card with a 128bit memory interface. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/v [...] firex.html

it may bottleneck some games, others it will be ok

So most of the time it will be ok? even if sometimes it will bottleneck will it be noticeable and affect the gameplay? swifty i understand what you say, but the hd5770 seems like a great choice. and I want to assure if my cpu and this card are a good combination and I wont have any problems.

I doubt you will have any issues up to 1920x1080 games

I dont have money for the 58xx and I think I will get a bottleneck. Please pay attention to my original question : will my athlon x4 620 2.61ghz bottleneck the hd5770 card? or are they a good combination together? would you buy it if you were instead and not worry about any problems, bottleneck etc..? (with the same cpu of course). it's just when I buy something I have to check even more than ...

the short answer is no it wont. in some older/current games that aren't optimized for more than 2 cores and very ghz dependant it might get you lower frames than a higher clocked duel core but you wont notice because you will already be at more than playable frame rates. newer/future games are going to optimized for quad cores so you will fine there. the athlon ii's are only like 10% slower than...

Well I think I will go for the hd 5770, and maybe when I'll need to I'll perform OC on my cpu. for now my stock cpu speed will do the job right? games arent that demanding now?

Don't let one of these people talk you into something that will aide you in screwing up your computer. Stock is fine. YES, games are demanding RIGHT NOW.......... buy the card already.

your friend is technically correct but he is also misleading you. gtaiv is a badly coded port that is even technically limited on core i7 builds (meaning that if you overclock a 920 it will get better framerates with the same video card). and you can overclock to 3ghz easily on stock cooling and voltage on a 620. i recently built a system for a friend with a 630 and its stable at 3.37 ghz with stock voltage and cooler. with an aftermarket...

A good Cooler and safe OC will still lower your CPUs overall life, but chances are good, if you are responsible, that you would upgrade long before it died anyhow.
