It looks like the ratings are starting to sink for this great show. I know its hard for any successful show to replicate its winning season one formula but in GG's case maybe it has to! Sometimes being OTT isn't the best way to go and having way too many guest stars doesn't help either. What does everyone else think?
GG is CW's top show in women 18-34 aka its target demo it's not going anywhere season 4 is 100% unless the entire CW is cancelled (that is actually possible)

I think GG will last until Dawn Astroff decides she's bored with it, whether the show deserves to stick around or not.
The show has a certain desperate air to it now which doesn't jive with everyone's 'no the ratings are really good for this show'. You can tell they're trying to gin up ratings with some of these insane plotlines: gay kiss here, threesome there, love child...
The show will ...
If you think on what grounds the premise of Gossip Girl was built on, then the plotlines are really not insane. Even from Season 1, it was all about the OMFG factor. Moreover a gay kiss or a lovechild is really not insane or over the top. We've seen these things on other shows before.
"Leave the gun, take the cannoli"
I HIGHLY doubt GG will get cancelled. I would actually be surprised if it did. The CW isn't known for it's great ratings. I don't think any show has ever gotten 5 million viewers on the CW. And if they can keep One Tree Hill on for 7 seasons, then I'm pretty sure GG will at the very least get another season. GG still attracts around 2 or 3 million viewers (at home and online, and on DVR as well),...
Season 1 was not about the OMFG factor. The plots weren't desperate. And no, a gay kiss or lovechild isn't over the top, but the way it was handled was. They made a big deal about Chuck's kiss and then boom, it was just to help Blair. They made a big deal about Scott, and then boom. He's gone. Season 1 had realistic causes and effects of acts.

You're trying to say that Serena's 1x16 "I killed someone" isn't a (lame) OMFG moment? Besides it was the media that made an even bigger deal about the gay kiss, not the show itself.
"Leave the gun, take the cannoli"
GG is Dawn's baby, so I don't think it'll be axed. But when Privileged's (which was actually a very good show, I just liked the sister stuff better than the melodramatic crap about Megan's family/love life) dropped below 2 million, it got axed and it was getting the same numbers as GG.
Plus Dawn probably already feels stupid enough since Smallville was getting the highest CW ratings and then ...

True, although so people are so obsessed with the show that they want to see Blair, Serena, and Jenny being the strong females that work hard and get what they want, no holds barred, and pity anyone that gets in their way...that they thought they saw in them early S1. Then they want Chuck to be strong, yet sly & cocky too, with a devilish glint to his eye, as he makes 'deals' to further his company...and has a passionate...
