Thread: Why is ratonal distanced discussion of legally dubious things banned?

Well, I brought up software patents and got the thread on codecs closed...it just seems abserd. If we are outlining how to do it, then sure...but talking about it?

We have explained this and the Forums position on many occasions. The location of codecs etc is well documented. As is the legal standing of said software.

Those examples are not for the Cafe also except in limited circumstances.

The bottom line is that these are moderated forums and we wish to keep as much as possible to Support. We do provide the Cafe as an area where people can have off-topic, non support conversations / threads. However that does not mean you are free to discuss any topic you choose and these are moderated forums. Some topics are deemed inappropriate for these forums and we rely on the judgment...
