The word 'overrated' comes to mind.
But hell, I actually liked her until the whole Polanski fiasco, and now with her stupid comments comparing eating meat to rape? She needs to sit down and shut up.

Ditto and what did she say exactly?
EDIT: nevermind I just read it. What a moron. You're right, she does need to sit down and shut up. Stupid girl.

I do think it is weird to chastise meat eaters and then support Roman Polanski. I mean my personal opinion on the whole Polanski thing is it's a waste of time, when the victim is trying to drop the charges against the attacker the case is over. But seriously attacking meat eaters? That's why I hate vegans.
I agree with you to some extent. It happened long ago and charges are pretty much dropped, but it doesn't change the fact that this guy got away with rape, lived in style for 30 years, and still expects people to be sympathetic of him. I think the bigger issue is how many people actually ARE sympathetic and ARE willing to support Polanski simply because he's an artiste and therefore he's exempt...

Damn right! She comes across like a total cretin.

Its true. All she has done is express her opinions. What has happened to tolerance of differences?
I think we still have freedom of expression and freedom of speech in the US.
When it comes down to it a bunch of celebrities signing a petition is not going to have any real influence on the criminal justice system anyway.
It's not what she's saying (it's a very noble cause) but it's how she's expressing what she wants to say. "You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" , right?
She goes a step too far
I say that Foer's ethical charge against animal eating is brave because not only is it unpopular, it has also been characterized as unmanly, inconsiderate, and juvenile. But he reminds us that ...
I do, however, find it hard to believe that Portman displayed any above-average intelligence by merely being accepted; I also believe that her acceptance to Harvard as well as her name were both instrumental in going as far as she did academically. I remember watching an interview with Portman on Letterman when she was 14. She said she attended a public high school (not an indulgent private HS for actors/entertainers) and was getting straight...
Portman may very well be intelligent. But admission to Harvard is no reliable barometer of that. Eagerness to challenge herself seems to be a moot point considering the career path she chose. As far as her own accounts of how she did academically--I'll leave you to imagine how much weight they hold for me when she trots them out for publicity purposes. I have no concrete information that they do receive grade considerations--I'm...

Its true. All she has done is express her opinions. What has happened to tolerance of differences? And the people who are criticising her are expressing their opinions. Where is your tolerance for them? I think we still have freedom of expression and freedom of speech in the US. So surely you should be supporting their freedom to criticise her? When it comes down to it a bunch of celebrities signing a petition is not going to have any real...
