How is singing about absolutism ever mainstream anyways? Muse is one of those bands that do what they do because they love it, big names like Radiohead and The Knife do the same. Sure, they do like to appeal to the mainstream, but they're not complete sell-outs.

My friend saw Muse on monday night. Aaand I know what you mean about the music feeling different. Like I used to kind of like Tokio Hotel, but then it was on the Hills and now its not the same..

honestly, who cares? if you like the band you like the band, your opinion shouldn't change just because it's being played in a mainstream teenybopper movie. it's not like they're suddenly going to not sound good anymore because they were in twilight. for example, Imogen Heap has been my favourite artist for five years now, and just recently the chorus of her classic "Hide and Seek" was ripped off and made...

i know what you mean. it makes me shudder to think of stephenie meyer listening to muse whilst i enjoy them... 

Like whatever music you like... Everyone has their opinions, and you should be happy that more people are understanding the greatness of the bands you like! Sure, I can relate to the quick shudder of annoyance that runs through the body as others tell you how awesome a band is that you have liked forever.. but hey at least its more people to bond about it with!
